Local NEA/RA Election and bio sketches

Below you will find the ADTA candidates’ biography sketches for the NEA/RA local election. They are listed in the 2017-2018 CTA alphabet order. Voting will take place at Melva Davis Academy of Excellence on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 2:30 pm. to 5:00 pm.

Belen Carreon – As a first year dual immersion educator, I would like to serve on behalf of ADTA in bringing awareness of D.I. programs and obtain meaningful practices to use in classrooms.

Lori Rhodes – As current state council representative & NEA resolutions committee member, I would love for the opportunity to continue my representation of the profession and the uniqueness of the high desert. #WeAreCTA/HDSCC

The Adelanto District Teachers’ Association will be holding the Executive Board Election at Melva Davis Middle School on April 11, 2018 from 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm.

Executive Board positions needed for 2018 – 2019 are:

Vice President
Corresponding Secretary
Recording Secretary
Treasurer
Two (2) Members at Large

Vice President is a 2 year term and all others are a one year term.

February 26 – March 12, 2018 – Submit Declaration of Candidacy

Declarations of Candidacies must be received in writing at 11411 Holly Street, Adelanto, CA, 92301, no later than 5:00 pm, March 12, 2018. (Postmarked dates are not accepted.)

March 15 – March 22, 2018 Candidate’s Biography Sketches

No more than 30 words.

April 11, 2018 ADTA Executive Board Election

Election will be held at Melva Davis Middle School from 2:30 – 5:00 pm. Ballots will be counted immediately after the election and the elected candidates will be notified within 24 hours by the Executive Board President.

April 16, 2018 Any challenge to the election must be received, in writing, at 11411 Holly Street, Adelanto, CA 92301, no later than 5:00 pm unless there is a run off. (Postmarked dates are not accepted.)

April 18, 2018 Response to challenge.

April 19 – April 23, 2018 Preparation of run-off ballots, if necessary.

April 25, 2018 Run-off election

Election will be held at Melva Davis Middle School, on Wednesday, April 24, 2018 from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. (No write in ballots.) Ballots will be counted immediately after the election and the elected candidates will be notified by the Executive Board President within 24 hours.

April 27, 2018 Last day to submit a challenge to the run-off election. Challenges must be received in writing at 11411 Holly Street, Adelanto, CA, 92301, no later than 5:00 pm. Postmarked dates are not accepted.
